Launched in 2023, MOYU™ is a revolutionary superfood baking and breakfast company creating plant-powered, gluten-free products rooted in Konjac—a fiber-rich Asian root plant (also called Konnyaku) or Shirataki) that can be used to empower flour substitute applications. The brand was created by third-generation food entrepreneur Gillian Hu, who grew up in China’s lush Yunnan Province, where Konjac is native and has been used by her ancestors for over 2000 years. In modern times, it has also been used for low-calorie noodles (called Shirataki).
Realizing the ingredient’s far-reaching applications for wellness beyond Asian cuisine, Gillian worked for two years with top food science and agricultural experts to develop a first-of-its-kind proprietary Konjac Batter and Baking Mix. This DIY product empowers home bakers to create a wide array of delicious, protein-packed breakfast and baked goods—such as pancakes, bread cakes, and brownies—that replicate their fluffy texture without the use of typical baking ingredients like flour, sugar, and butter. MOYU’s mission is to provide more nutritious and sustainable flour substitute options worldwide, while also fostering positive social and economic impact in Gillian’s native Yunnan.
